Diamantina Shire Council is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Officer to join our Infrastructure Services team in Bedourie.
Reporting to the Building Maintenance Supervisor, the position is responsible for maintaining and repairing Council buildings, housing, facilities and minor infrastructure.
The role suits a practical person who can work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver quality workmanship and customer service.
Key responsibilities
The Maintenance Officer will:
undertake scheduled and responsive maintenance and repairs
complete general carpentry, plumbing, painting, plastering and minor repair work within the scope of the role
inspect buildings, facilities and property assets and report maintenance issues
assist with condition assessments and refurbishment projects
monitor contractors completing minor maintenance works
plan and prioritise maintenance programs and work requests
operate tools, equipment and plant safely
complete safety, job management and maintenance records
respond professionally to customer and community requests
assist with maintenance support for community events
contribute to continuous improvement and safe work practices.
About you
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in general building, property or facilities maintenance, including repairs, renovations, refurbishment and the installation of fittings and fixtures.
You will be able to use a range of tools and equipment safely, work with minimal supervision and contribute positively as part of a team.
Solid communication, customer service, initiative and problem‐solving skills are also required.
Essential requirements include a trade certificate in carpentry, plumbing or electrical, and/or extensive relevant experience in building construction and facilities maintenance.
Applicants must also hold a Queensland C Class Driver Licence or higher and a Construction Safety Induction Card.
Experience operating plant, equipment and power tools, an HR Truck Licence, forklift ticket, First Aid and CPR qualifications, and experience working at heights or in confined spaces are desirable.
