Surgical Dental Assistant

We're looking for an experienced Surgical Dental Assistant who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care and is eager to develop their skills in advanced implant and surgical dentistry while working alongside Dr Sam Talpis and his treatment coordinator.
This unique role offers the opportunity to work closely with Dr Sam during dedicated surgical sessions, assisting with ceramic and titanium dental implants, bone grafting, guided implant surgery, surgical extractions, soft tissue procedures and other advanced surgical treatments.
The remainder of your week will involve supporting our clinicians and team across restorative, cosmetic and general dentistry while delivering the exceptional patient experience Holistic Dental Brunswick is known for.
We're looking for someone who is organised, pro‐active, efficient, calm under pressure, clinically confident chairside and genuinely enjoys caring for patients throughout their treatment journey.
About the Role
As an integral member of our clinical team, you will:
Assist Dr Sam Talpis during advanced surgical procedures, including ceramic and titanium implant placement.
Assist with bone grafting, guided surgery, surgical extractions and other complex procedures.
Prepare surgical rooms, instruments and equipment to the highest clinical standards.
Maintain exceptional infection control, sterilisation and surgical protocols.
Support patients before, during and after surgery with compassion, reassurance and professionalism.
Assist our clinicians across restorative, cosmetic and general dentistry on non‐surgical days.
Prepare treatment rooms and ensure an organised, productive clinical environment.
Assist with ordering and maintaining surgical instruments, implant components and clinical stock.
Contribute to maintaining the warm, caring and holistic culture that defines Holistic Dental Brunswick.
About You
We're looking for someone with a minimum of two years' Dental Assisting experience who demonstrates:
Previous experience assisting with implant or oral surgery
Excellent knowledge of infection control, sterilisation and surgical protocols.
Confidence working in both surgical and general dental environments.
Outstanding organisation, efficiency and attention to detail.
The ability to remain calm, focused and proactive during complex procedures.
A reliable, accountable and professional approach to your work.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
A caring,
compassionate nature that helps patients feel relaxed and comfortable.
A positive attitude towards learning, continuous improvement and professional development.
An appreciation for holistic, patient‐centred healthcare and a commitment to treating every patient with empathy and respect.
Minimum two years' Dental Assisting experience
Previous surgical assisting experience
Full Australian working rights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Professional presentation and a genuine commitment to outstanding patient care.
