Job Description
About the role: SWBIRS is a specialist service supporting children and adults with acquired brain injury across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District.
Our multidisciplinary allied health team works in close partnership with Rehabilitation Physicians to deliver high-quality, person-centred rehabilitation.
As a Physiotherapist with SWBIRS, you will play a key role in delivering intensive rehabilitation, community outreach, and rehabilitation coordination for clients transitioning through recovery.
You will provide expert physiotherapy assessment and intervention across a diverse mix of service settings, including: Transitional Living Unit (TLU) – delivering intensive, functional rehabilitation.
Community outreach – visiting rural communities across the District Telehealth – supporting clients remotely where appropriate Onsite clinics – working alongside a multidisciplinary allied health team.
The Transitional Living Unit operates one week per fortnight, offering clients a structured, home like workplace for intensive rehabilitation.
During these TLU weeks, the Physiotherapist is expected to be onsite 2–3 days,



delivering functional therapy and supporting clients through goal driven programs.
Outside of these onsite days, you will continue providing care through telehealth sessions or outreach visits to district clients, ensuring continuity of rehabilitation across settings.
Our Allied Health Assistants play a key role in supporting the physiotherapy program, helping maintain treatment plans and client engagement when you are off site.
This collaborative model allows you to work flexibly while still delivering high quality, coordinated rehabilitation.
You will also act as Rehabilitation Coordinator for a designated caseload, collaborating closely with Rehabilitation Physicians, allied health colleagues, and Allied Health Assistants to ensure seamless, goal driven rehabilitation.
