The Local Health Clubs are a well-established fitness facility in Byron Shire Northern NSW. It has been operating since the 90s. The group has grown significantly and is now the number one fitness group in the Byron Shire. The facility provides full access, extensive group fitness timetable and infra-red saunas.
Byron Gym is the largest gym in the area and is part of a group of gyms in the Byron Shire. Other gyms, Bangalow gym, Bruns Gym and soon to be added to the group Mullumbimby. This allows members to have multi-access across the shire.
The OPPORTUNITY
Gym Manager for Mullumbimby and Gym Assistant Manager for Byron Gym your primary aim is to increase membership numbers across the business, 100% commitment towards providing outstanding customer service, maintain excellent reach out with all social media platforms, member retention, manage staff and contractors and ensure customer satisfaction. You will be working closely and taking direction from the club Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the day-to-day operations of the club to ensure high level of customer service and satisfaction and cleanliness and equipment maintenance
Focus on member retention and increasing member sales in the club to
ensure reach monthly sales targets.
Outstanding communication and leadership skills.
You will demonstrate professionalism, respect, courtesy and support.
Build a great team culture and club environment promoting community and
inclusiveness
Leading in the delivery of exceptional member experiences and timely
resolutions
Recruitment, training, and retention of staff members
Contribute to weekly managers meetings




Organise and run monthly staff meetings to foster communication and team building.
Recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention of staff members.
Oversee staff rostering to ensure adequate staff coverage during Club
operating hours, approving leave
Proficient knowledge in software systems including Clubware, Debit Success & Gym Sales to ensure internal communications and procedures are being met and followed.
Overseeing the use of internal and external marketing, ensuring this is in line
with the Social Media strategy of the gym group.
Statistical Reporting & analysis of net membership movement
Ensure the gym environment has ongoing standards in regards to cleanliness, maintenance, and OH&S; standards.
This Permanent full-time position offers 37.5 hours per week and will include evenings.
You will be working with the Operations Manager for training and support.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Certificate 3 in Fitness or willingness to obtain
First Aid and CPR (or higher) or willingness to obtain
Police/working with children check/blue card or willingness to obtain
Experience working within the Fitness Industry
Minimum 1-2 years of fitness industry experience is required
Proven track record for reaching sales targets
Knowledge and competency in gym software and ability to learn new systems
Permanent residency status in Australia is required for this position




ABOUT YOU
Leadership experience managing a team in a high volume and fast paced
environment (Ideally within the fitness industry)
A minimum of 6-12 months of team management experience in a high volume and fast-paced environment is required.
Passionate about Fitness and Have a genuine care for your members and a
want to help them achieve their health and fitness goals
Able to demonstrate proven sales and customer service experience with a
clear ability to hit KPIs.
An understanding of customer retention strategies is highly regarded.
Exceptional verbal, written and time management skills
People-Focused Prioritize member relationships and build a positive gym
community
Positive attitude towards work, life and gym environment
Highly Organised, the ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills.
Experience in creating and promoting a positive fitness facility culture.
Experience in human resource practices
Sound understanding of work health and safety requirements is desirable.
Be reliable, proactive, punctual, skilled & well-presented.

A realistic OTE of $67,000 - $88,000 (made up of base salary, plus commission), including super.
