The Opportunity:
Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District is seeking experienced senior-level locum doctors (PGY5+ or CMO equivalent) to act as Senior In-Charge within the Emergency Department.
You'll lead the clinical team overnight or after hours, coordinate patient flow, supervise junior staff, and manage all acute presentations with backup from on-call FACEMs.
This role is ideal for experienced ED locums, rural generalists with strong emergency backgrounds, or career medical officers looking to step into senior leadership in a metro ED.
Clinical Workplace:
Lead the ED team across busy after-hours or overnight shifts
Oversee admissions, resuscitations, and time-critical cases
Supervise junior RMOs and SRMOs with support from on-call consultants
Maintain oversight of patient flow and clinical escalation
Autonomy and seniority in a high-performing ED with clear protocols and a collaborative team
Eligibility Criteria:
General or Specialist AHPRA Registration
Comfortable leading an ED team independently
NSW Working with Children Check and Police Check
Australian working rights
Willingness to complete onboarding and credentialing
What's Provided:
Up to $300/hour depending on experience and shift




Travel and accommodation may be included for eligible locums
Flexible shift patterns across nights, evenings, and weekends
Full admin and roster coordination support provided
Location - Nepean Blue Mountains LHD, NSW:
This role may be based at Nepean Hospital in Penrith or Hawkesbury District Hospital in Windsor, both within Western Sydney.
These sites offer the perfect balance of metro-level clinical exposure and a more relaxed pace than inner-city hospitals.
