The Role
We are excited to announce that our lovely team at Abervale are currently seeking an enthusiastic, committed, customer focused Gardener to join them on part time basis.
Nestled in the leafy suburb of Grovedale,
Abervale offers a welcoming community with beautifully maintained gardens, landscaped grounds, and a relaxed retirement lifestyle.
As a Gardener, you'll play an important role in enhancing the village environment, ensuring residents can enjoy peaceful walks through vibrant gardens and attractive outdoor spaces every day. Working as part of a supportive team, you'll contribute to maintaining the presentation and appeal of the village while building meaningful connections with residents and colleagues alike.

Reporting to the Assistant Village Manager, your duties will include:
Maintaining lawns, garden beds, trees, shrubs and landscaped areas throughout the village
Looking after the shared garden spaces and general garden maintenance
Mowing (push mower and ride on mower), edging and whipper snipping
Planting, weeding, spraying, pruning, trimming and clearing leaves
Watering and monitoring irrigation systems
Collecting and disposing of green waste and garden debris
Keeping tools and equipment in good shape
Ensuring all gardening activities are carried out safely and in line with workplace health and safety requirements.
Shifts
Tuesday: 8am - 4pm
While these are our preferred working days, we understand the importance of flexibility and may be able to accommodate alternative days for the right candidate. If you have specific availability requirements, please outline these in your cover letter for consideration.
About you
The successful candidate will have the following:
Demonstrated experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture
Current Australian Driver's Licence
Ride-on mowing experience (highly regarded)
A genuine interest in assisting the independent living seniors
Skilled in pruning, planting and soil preparation
Experience operating and maintaining gardening tools and equipment safely
Attention to detail and pride in delivering high standards of garden presentation
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valuable communication skills for interacting with residents and staff in a friendly, professional manner
Knowledge of safe work practices and commitment to workplace health and safety
Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or be willing to obtain one)
Please note: The successful applicant must complete a Police Check & will be required to receive an annual flu vaccination between the months of May-November, with supporting documentation prior to
joining. For selected role, pre-employment medical assessments will also be required prior to any employment offers being made.
