Your current role
The focus of this role is to provide legal services to ensure the businessoperateswithin its risk management framework,maintainscompliance with all applicable laws, and that its contractual framework meets JANA's commercial goals.
This is a 6-month fixed-term contract role,locatedin our Melbourne office, reporting to the Head of Legal.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
Negotiating and reviewing contracts with clients and third‐party providers
Providing technical input on regulatory and legal questions, particularly in relation to JANA's investment trust platform
Working autonomously on complex legal matters, with support from the Head of Legal asrequired
Building trust and respect with internal staff while positivelyrepresentingJANA's brand when dealing with external stakeholders
Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education, professionalpublicationsand industry networks
About you
Equally challenging and rewarding, this opportunity is perfect for someone with:
Tertiary qualifications in law and a current practicing certificate
7+ years' experience in legal and/or compliance within financial services
A solid understanding of financial services laws, ideally with exposure to funds management or superannuation
Proven experience and expertise in contract negotiation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with internal and external stakeholders
The ability to work autonomously on complex matters with sound, independent judgement
