We are looking for a Senior Scientist II or Principal Scientist in Sequencing Technologies to spearhead the development and enhancement of our sequencing capabilities.
This role involves strategic leadership in sequencing methodologies that will drive discovery and product development.

What you'll do
Develop and implement a comprehensive sequencing strategy that utilizes various technologies including short-read, long-read, and nanopore sequencing to optimize data quality and efficiency.
Create and execute innovative sequencing applications for genome, transcriptome, and regulatory RNA studies.
Assess and integrate recent sequencing technologies to enhance data quality and throughput.
Manage the sequencing function and operations, ensuring the reliable delivery of sequencing data for all company projects.
Focus on continuous improvements in sequencing processes, including throughput and turnaround times.
Collaborate closely with teams in Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and AI/ML to meet research goals and foster innovation.
Mentor junior scientists and help cultivate a strong scientific culture within the organization.




Establish and maintain external partnerships to showcase Terrana's sequencing capabilities.
Requirements
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
For Senior Scientist II: 8-11 years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience with proven scientific leadership and experience managing sequencing platforms.
For Principal Scientist: 12+ years of relevant industry or postdoctoral experience with a strong record of scientific leadership and sequencing platform management.
Extensive knowledge of next-generation sequencing technologies and RNA applications.
Demonstrated success in developing and implementing innovative technologies.
Experience leading complex scientific projects from conception through execution.
Ability to balance leadership responsibilities with hands‐on laboratory work in a dynamic environment.
Proficient in developing and scaling high‐throughput laboratory workflows and sequencing operations.
Strong communication and problem‐solving skills.
Creative, scientifically rigorous, and entrepreneurial mindset.
Nice to have
Expertise in RNA biology, RNA sequencing, small RNA analysis, transcriptomics, or similar technologies.
