Recruitment Consultant - Senior Accounting & Finance
The Company
Our client is a well-established, multi-entity Australian business operating across a diverse range of operational divisions including manufacturing, transport, and warehousing.
With a collaborative culture and a strong focus on shared services, they are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to take ownership of a complex and wide-ranging payroll function.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Shared Services Manager, this is a senior standalone payroll position responsible for accurate, timely and compliant processing across multiple entities.
You'll work across Datapay/Datacom, ELMO and KeyPay alongside an outsourced payroll provider, and collaborate closely with Finance and People & Culture to deliver a high-quality payroll service.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls across multiple entities using Datapay/Datacom, ELMO and KeyPay
Review and validate time and attendance data; manage T&A; approvals for Head Office functions
Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Modern Awards, Enterprise Agreements, tax and superannuation obligations
Post payroll journals into the finance system; prepare monthly payroll reconciliations and GL account updates
Prepare and manage WorkCover remuneration calculations, ATO lodgements and statutory reporting
Process termination payments, payroll adjustments and maintain employee masterfile data accurately
Act as payroll system super-user; support, troubleshoot and train managers and employees on payroll systems
Identify and lead payroll process improvement, automation and standardisation initiatives across the group
Other ad-hoc duties to support the team
The Person
Demonstrated experience in a Senior Payroll Officer role within a multi-entity environment
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation and Modern Award/EA interpretation
Experience using Datapay/Datacom, ELMO and/or KeyPay; exposure to outsourced payroll providers advantageous
Experience with payroll reconciliations, GL journal posting and Time & Attendance systems
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel; strong analytical, reconciliation and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail; ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; proactive and solutions-focused approach
