Seeking a Primary Physical Education and Sport Coordinator
We are seeking an innovative and highly organised educator to lead Physical Education and Sport across Buckley House.
The Physical Education and Sport Coordinator is a specialist teaching and leadership position responsible for directing engaging, inclusive and developmentally appropriate Physical Education and Sport programs. The role encompasses classroom teaching, early years movement programs, AGSV and School Sport Victoria programs, sporting events, carnivals and representative pathways.
Working collaboratively with colleagues across Buckley House, Plenty Campus and the wider School, you will help create a connected approach to Physical Education and Sport across the primary years. You will promote movement competence, confidence, student wellbeing, character development and a culture of active participation, while providing opportunities for challenge and representative achievement.
This is afull-time (1.0 FTE), ongoing Primary Teaching position, commencing in January ****, incorporating a three-year leadership tenure as Sport Coordinator.
What you will do
Reporting to the Head of Buckley House, you will combine outstanding classroom teaching with the leadership, coordination and ongoing development of Physical Education and Sport programs.
In this role, you will:
Lead, develop and review Physical Education and Sport programs that align with School priorities and contemporary best practice
Deliver high-quality, evidence-informed Physical Education curriculum and teaching across the primary years
Support students to develop movement competence, confidence and physical literacy through engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
Coordinate AGSV, School Sport Victoria and other representative sporting programs and pathways
Plan and deliver sporting events, carnivals, trials and selection processes in a fair, consistent and professional manner
Create inclusive opportunities that encourage students of all abilities to participate meaningfully in physical activity and sport
Develop student character, leadership and wellbeing through teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, respect and responsible participation
Work collaboratively with colleagues at Plenty Campus to coordinate shared sporting opportunities, representative pathways and program development
Manage sporting calendars, equipment, facilities, resources, budgets and risk requirements to support safe and effective program delivery
Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents, guardians and external sporting organisations
Who you are
You are a passionate and purposeful Physical Education educator who understands the important role movement and sport play in supporting student learning, wellbeing, belonging and character development.
You bring a collaborative and inclusive approach, along with the organisation and leadership capability required to balance curriculum delivery, broad participation, representative opportunities and the operational requirements of a comprehensive sporting program.
You have the necessary experience, knowledge and skills to:
Hold current full Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
Demonstrate experience designing and delivering specialised primary Physical Education or Sport programs
Provide evidence of high-quality teaching and improved student learning outcomes
Apply contemporary learning theories and evidence-informed teaching practices
Demonstrate sound knowledge of the AITSL Standards for Teaching
Use contemporary digital technologies to support effective learning programs
Build strong and respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, guardians and community partners
Plan effectively, manage competing priorities and maintain high professional standards
Work collaboratively across campuses and contribute towards shared goals
Demonstrate a strong understanding of child safety protocols, compliance and safe sporting practices
Support and actively promote the ethos and values of Ivanhoe Grammar School.
