About the role Flyingbark is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sydney, New South Wales. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration and performance of our systems, particularly in the realm of game development. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining robust systems that support our innovative projects. You will collaborate closely with cross‐functional teams to enhance our infrastructure and optimize workflows, ensuring that our creative talents can focus on delivering exceptional gaming experiences.

What you'll do
Design and implement scalable and reliable systems architecture to support game development projects.
Collaborate with software engineers and developers to integrate system components and optimize performance.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability of services.
Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures.
Conduct regular system audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
Work with the IT team to ensure security protocols are in place and adhered to, protecting sensitive data and intellectual property.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that can enhance system capabilities and improve efficiency.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members,



fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Participate in project planning and execution, ensuring that systems engineering considerations are integrated into project timelines and deliverables.
Collaborate with external vendors and partners to ensure that third‐party systems and services align with our internal infrastructure.
Lead troubleshooting efforts during critical incidents, coordinating with various teams to resolve issues promptly.
Mentor junior engineers, providing them with the support and knowledge necessary to grow in their roles.
Requirements
A minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, preferably within the gaming or software development industry.
Proficiency in system design and architecture, with a strong understanding of cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
Strong scripting skills in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation and system management tasks.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar.
Solid understanding of networking concepts,



including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing.
Excellent problem‐solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast‐paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non‐technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
Experience with game development frameworks or engines such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
Previous experience working in an Agile development environment.
