The Bundaberg Barrel is home to the Bundaberg Brewed Drinks Visitor Experience, welcoming tourists and locals alike to discover our brewing heritage, enjoy guided tastings, and learn the story behind Australia's favourite craft-brewed soft drinks.
We are seeking a passionate, customer-focused individual to join our team as a
Full-Time Retail and Visitor Services Officer
.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, enjoys meeting new people, takes pride in presentation, and loves creating memorable customer experiences. They are equally comfortable assisting visitors, processing retail sales, completing administrative tasks, managing stock, and supporting the wider team where needed. This role suits someone who is proactive, adaptable, and confident engaging with a diverse range of visitors while maintaining exceptional service standards.
Working at one of Bundaberg's most recognised tourism destinations, you will play an important role in creating memorable experiences for visitors from across Australia and around the world.
You'll have the opportunity to share your vibrant personality while:
Hosting engaging taste tests of our range of Bundaberg Brews
Welcoming and assisting visitors to the Bundaberg Barrel
Sharing information about the Bundaberg region and the rich history of Bundaberg Brewed Drinks
Processing retail purchases through our point-of-sale system
Providing administrative support to the Tourist Centre Manager as required
Delivering exceptional customer service in person and over the phone
Replenishing stock and maintaining the presentation of the Barrel
Assisting with stocktakes and inventory management
Handling cash and completing end-of-day reconciliations
Supporting opening and closing procedures of the visitor centre
Performing routine cleaning duties to maintain a welcoming environment
Our newest team member will also have:
Experience using computerised booking systems (desirable but not essential)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, events, retail, or other customer-facing environment
A proactive, hands‐on approach and willingness to assist wherever needed
A mature and professional attitude, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
Confidence speaking to groups and presenting information to visitors
Experience handling cash, balancing tills, and reconciling daily sales (preferred)
Confidence working independently and completing opening and closing procedures
Solid organisational and time management skills
Availability to work weekends and school holiday periods as part of a 3-week rolling roster between 7:30am and 5:00pm, including a 4-day weekend every third week
As part of the recruitment process, successful applicants will be required to undergo pre-employment assessments, including a medical assessment, drug and alcohol screening, and a criminal history check.
