Our client is a privately backed, rapidly growing real estate investment and funds management platform with an active pipeline of major Australian property transactions.
This is an opportunity to join a lean, highly experienced investment team and work directly with the Managing Director across acquisitions, financial modelling, transaction execution and portfolio strategy.
The successful candidate will gain genuine principal-side responsibility - helping determine where capital should be invested rather than simply advising on or facilitating transactions.
Key Responsibilities
Assess current real estate acquisition and investment opportunities
Build and maintain detailed acquisition, DCF, leveraged return, debt and equity models
Undertake asset, market, tenant, lease and comparable-transaction analysis
Evaluate investment returns, financing structures and key commercial risks
Coordinate due diligence with valuers, lawyers, lenders, agents and technical advisers
Prepare investment committee papers, investment memoranda and senior management presentations
Support acquisitions, disposals, restructures and recapitalisations
Monitor portfolio performance against acquisition assumptions and business plans
Contribute to fund strategy, asset planning and long-term investment decisions
About You
You will ideally have approximately three to five years of experience within one or more of the following:
Investment banking, preferably covering real estate, real assets or infrastructure
Buy-side real estate investment or acquisitions
Corporate finance or transaction advisory with meaningful property exposure
You will also bring
Advanced Excel and financial-modelling capability
Experience with DCF, IRR, NPV and debt and equity return analysis
Exposure to acquisition, joint venture, development, fund or portfolio modelling
Experience assessing institutional-grade real estate transactions, ideally above $50 million
The ability to form an investment view and prepare a clear recommendation
Strong written communication and PowerPoint skills
Commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and excellent attention to detail
The confidence to work directly with senior decision-makers in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
A relevant qualification in finance, commerce, economics, property or a related discipline
Experience using Forbury and progress towards the CFA qualification would be advantageous but are not essential.
Why Consider This Opportunity?
Direct exposure to the Managing Director and senior investment team
Genuine involvement throughout the complete investment life cycle
Broader principal-side responsibility and transaction ownership
Exposure to acquisitions, financing, investment committees and portfolio strategy
Join a well-capitalised platform during an important stage of growth
Location:
Sydney CBD
Employment:
Full-time, predominantly office-based
