About the Opportunity
Mountleap & Company is partnering with a well-established Australian business to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant.
This is not a junior accounting, AP or bookkeeping position. We're seeking an experienced finance professional who can independently manage month-end reporting, maintain financial integrity, and take ownership of inventory accounting and product costing in a fast-paced commercial environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales and Management to improve financial visibility, costing accuracy and reporting efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of the monthly financial close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, provisions and cut-off.
Prepare accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations with appropriate supporting documentation.




Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger and investigate accounting discrepancies.
Perform hands-on accounting within MYOB or similar ERP/accounting systems.
Manage inventory accounting and calculate landed costs including freight, customs, duties, foreign exchange and logistics costs.
Maintain product-level costing records and support ongoing improvements to costing methodologies.
Reconcile financial information between accounting systems and operational data.
Support gross margin analysis and identify costing or data quality issues.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, GST/BAS reconciliations and audit preparation.
Provide backup support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and banking functions when required.
Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Production, Sales and IT to improve financial processes and internal controls.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work, improve reporting efficiency and strengthen finance processes using AI and digital tools.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Minimum 5 years' accounting and finance experience.
At least 3 years' experience as a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or similar commercial finance role.
Demonstrated experience independently managing month-end close and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Practical experience in inventory accounting, landed cost, importing, manufacturing or product costing.
Strong MYOB experience or experience with comparable ERP/accounting systems.
Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS and financial reconciliations.
Experience with Power Query, Power BI or reporting tools will be highly regarded.
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
CA or CPA qualification (or working towards one) will be viewed favourably.
Experience within manufacturing, wholesale, importing,



automotive, machinery, distribution or other inventory-intensive industries is highly desirable.

Language Requirement
This position works closely with both Australian and overseas stakeholders. Regular communication with finance and operational teams based in China is required regarding inventory, purchasing, product costing and financial information.
Professional Mandarin Chinese and English communication skills (both written and spoken) are essential for this role.
This Role Is Not Suitable For
Candidates whose experience is primarily Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable or bookkeeping.
Candidates without independent month-end close and Balance Sheet reconciliation experience.
Candidates from predominantly tax or public practice backgrounds without meaningful commercial inventory or product costing exposure.
Candidates seeking a purely supervisory role with limited hands-on accounting responsibilities.
