The Waste Network is growing, and we are looking for practical, energetic and data-driven Sustainability Officers to join our casual team.
Our people support some of Australia's most recognised events, venues and organisations, including:
The Melbourne Cup Carnival
The Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix
The Royal Melbourne Show
Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre
Major education, hospitality, commercial property and venue customers
This is not a desk-based sustainability role.
You will work onsite, helping customers improve waste and resource recovery systems, engage their teams, solve operational issues and report on measurable outcomes.
The Role
Depending on the assignment, you may be:
Supporting major events, venues and customer sites
Conducting inspections, audits and contamination assessments
Engaging customers, contractors, cleaners and frontline teams
Delivering practical training and education
Capturing and validating operational data
Preparing plans and proposals for prospective customers
Preparing customer and event reports
Reporting on strategy, actions delivered and outcomes achieved
Using technology and dashboards to improve performance
Identifying recent sustainability and operational solutions
Data and reporting are central to the role. You must be able to clearly explain:
What was implemented
What the data demonstrates




What outcomes were achieved
What should happen next
About You
You may be a sustainability graduate or have experience in events, operations, facilities, hospitality, logistics, waste or customer service.
You will bring:
Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
Confidence working in operational environments
Confidence using Excel and cloud-based systems
Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
Reliability, initiative and a willingness to take ownership
Flexibility to work some evenings, weekends and major-event periods
A genuine commitment to being a team player
A positive attitude aligned with a culture built on strong work ethic, professionalism, mutual respect, accountability and integrity
Experience with Power BI, sustainability reporting, waste and recycling or major events will be highly regarded.
