About the organisation
Just Reinvest NSW (JR NSW) supports Aboriginal communities to design and lead their own solutions for change, with a core purpose of reducing Aboriginal people's interactions with the criminal justice system. JR NSW advances community‐led initiatives alongside state‐wide policy and legislative reform, redirecting investment away from systems that cause harm and towards communities experiencing high rates of justice system contact.
JR NSW works alongside Aboriginal communities to develop place‐based, data‐driven strategies, including local "justice circuit breakers," that respond to local priorities and create both immediate and long‐term impact. Insights from this work inform JR NSW's broader policy and advocacy agenda, while the organisation brings together Aboriginal communities, government agencies, philanthropy and private sector partners to strengthen and scale the Justice Reinvestment approach.
About the role
As the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Just Reinvest NSW (JR NSW), you will lead the organisation's strategic direction and ensure progress against its long‐term vision and strategic plan. You will represent JR NSW publicly as the leading voice for justice reinvestment in NSW, speaking on behalf of the organisation in the media, at conferences and across key sector forums to strengthen JR NSW's profile and influence.
You will provide executive leadership across all operational, strategic and organisational functions. This includes direct management of the JR NSW supporting body team, oversight of community‐based staff and responsibility for engaging and managing consultants.

You will ensure that JR NSW's internal systems, governance and operations are effective, aligned to strategy and capable of supporting high‐quality, community‐led work.
You will also build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Aboriginal communities, government agencies, philanthropic partners and other key stakeholders. Through these partnerships, you will drive initiatives that advance justice reinvestment, support community‐led solutions and contribute to meaningful, systemic reform across NSW.
About you
You are an Aboriginal leader with strong cultural grounding, deep community relationships and a clear commitment to Aboriginal self‐determination. You bring experience in justice, social justice or related reform, and you are politically astute, able to navigate complex Commonwealth and State environments and influence legislation and policy. You are confident with data and insights, skilled in policy and law reform, and comfortable representing JR NSW publicly, including in front of cameras.
You are a strategic, values‐driven leader who brings steadiness, clarity and discipline. You build trust quickly, work collaboratively and maintain JR NSW's independence while engaging effectively with Ministers,

senior bureaucrats and philanthropic partners. You are financially literate, able to guide the Board and oversee funding streams, and you work well with technical specialists across finance, data and operations. Above all, you balance strategy with delivery and are motivated by improving outcomes for Aboriginal children, families and communities.
Please note that travel and working from other sites will be a component of this position.
