The largest major referral hospital in Far North Queensland caring for patients from the Torres Strait to Tully.
The Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (CLPS) provides psychiatric assessment, support, and education to the inpatient wards of Cairns Hospital. Role offers wide range of patients referred including those admitted medically or surgically following suicide/self-harm, eating disorders, perinatal, neuropsychiatric presentations, medically unexplained symptoms & case-managed consumers who have been admitted to hospital for medical/surgical reasons. Role is supported by two training registrars and 2 experienced CNCs. Role would involve triaging referrals and offering comprehensive psychiatric assessments. Key part of this role is supporting medical/surgical teams via liaison meetings & education- focusing on high quality patient care especially of MH patients in a medical setting.
