Commercial Manager

About the Role As RSGx continues to grow we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to play a critical role in supporting the front-end and pre-contracts phase of our business.
This position will be responsible for driving commercial excellence across tendering, bid development, risk management, governance, contract strategy, and commercial decision-making.
Working closely with operational, estimating, and commercial stakeholders, you will ensure that commercial risks and opportunities are appropriately identified, assessed, and managed throughout the pursuit and negotiation stages of major projects.
This role is pivotal in supporting sustainable growth while protecting the organisation's commercial interests and ensuring strong governance standards are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide commercial leadership and oversight during bid preparation, contract reviews, negotiations, and project acquisition activities
Develop and implement commercial strategies that support business growth, profitability, and risk management objectives
Identify, assess, and manage commercial, contractual, financial, and operational risks throughout the pre-contract lifecycle
Review and negotiate complex contractual terms and conditions with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and partners
Establish robust governance frameworks and approval processes to support commercial decision-making
Partner with estimating and operational teams to ensure commercial risks and obligations are accurately reflected within bids and project delivery strategies




Provide strategic advice and recommendations to senior leadership on commercial matters, opportunities, and risk exposures
Monitor market trends, contractual developments, and industry best practices to enhance commercial performance
Selection Criteria Essential:
Extensive experience in commercial, contracts, or pre-contract management roles within the construction, engineering, infrastructure, resources, or related sectors
Demonstrated experience managing complex tendering and bid processes from a commercial perspective
Strong understanding of contract law, risk allocation principles, and commercial governance frameworks
Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements and contractual arrangements
Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to balance risk, opportunity, and business objectives
Desirable:
Tertiary qualification in Law, Commerce, Business, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience within electrical, mechanical, infrastructure, resources, energy, or industrial contracting environments
Exposure to major project delivery models, alliances, joint ventures, and public-private partnerships
Postgraduate qualifications or skilled certifications in commercial management, risk management, or project management
Experience leading commercial teams and mentoring developing professionals
