Research Scientist- PYC TherapeuticsLife-changing science is our focus - and discovery research is central to how we get there.
PYC Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotech company developing RNA therapies for patients living with rare genetic diseases.
We are entering a pivotal stage of growth as we advance our clinical programs, expand our pipeline, and continue building our position as a global RNA therapeutics company.
Our work spans inherited retinal disease, polycystic kidney disease, and neurodevelopmental disorders, alongside a broader discovery pipeline.
We are looking for a Research Scientist to join our CNS Discovery Team.
In this role, you will support the progression of PYC's RNA therapeutic assets towards the clinic by designing, executing and interpreting high-quality molecular and cellular biology experiments.
You will contribute scientific expertise, rigorous data analysis and practical laboratory capability to advance project objectives, strengthen experimental platforms and support timely, evidence-based decision making across discovery and translational research programs.
In this role, you will:
Design, execute, optimise and troubleshoot experiments that support the progression of PYC's RNA therapeutic assets towards the clinic.
Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, RT-PCR, ddPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry and functional assays.
Evaluate novel technologies, methodologies and experimental approaches that strengthen PYC's RNA therapeutics platform.
Design fit-for-purpose laboratory experiments that address project hypotheses, technical requirements and agreed timelines.
Review and interpret experimental, molecular and omics outputs,

working with bioinformatics, biostatistics and program leads where specialist input is required.
Apply relevant scientific literature and technical knowledge to strengthen experimental planning, problem solving and future research directions.
Develop, validate and standardise laboratory protocols to support robust, reproducible and auditable research outcomes.
Maintain accurate, detailed and auditable laboratory records using approved systems.
Prepare clear figures, summaries, reports and presentations for internal stakeholders.
This is a fulltime position, based in Nedlands.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings strong technical capability, sound scientific judgement and a collaborative approach.
You will be comfortable working in a fast-paced discovery research environment and contributing to the progression of RNA therapeutic programs through high-quality experimental design, execution and analysis.
To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:
PhD or equivalent postgraduate qualification in molecular biology, cell biology, genetics, genomics, biochemistry or a related discipline.
Expert understanding of RNA and DNA regulation, processing and biology.
Extensive experience in molecular biology techniques, including DNA, RNA and protein extraction, PCR-based methods, ELISA and Western blotting.
Experience in relevant cellular biology techniques,

including cell culture, immunohistochemistry and functional assays.
Strong capability in experimental design, optimisation, troubleshooting and interpretation.
Extensive expertise in interpreting data from diverse omics techniques, including RNAseq and whole genome sequencing.
Ability to independently plan, prioritise and execute work across parallel projects while meeting agreed timelines.
High attention to detail, strong organisational skills and commitment to accurate, auditable research records.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present scientific data clearly to internal stakeholders.
A cooperative working style and the ability to contribute positively across discovery, translational and cross-functional project teams.
About Us
We are building a high-performance, science-led organisation where curiosity, collaboration and pace matter.
Our teams work across discovery, translational and clinical research to advance RNA-based therapies with the potential to make a meaningful difference for patients.
This is an opportunity to contribute to important science in a growing and innovative environment, where your work can help shape the development of our therapeutic platform.
