We are establishing our new Murray Bridge facility and building a new culture.
A significant proportion of the production workforce is new to dairy manufacturing.
The Quality and Compliance Officer is a hands-on leadership role that bridges the gap between our high food safety standards and daily operations.
You are not here to catch people doing things wrong.
You are here to help them do things right.
This role is the guardian of our HACCP based systems while acting as a mentor and coach to the production team, ensuring that food safety is a shared responsibility rather than a source of conflict.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quality qualified who wants to help establish best-practice systems in a new dairy facility, or for a strong junior candidate with the right attitude who is ready to learn quickly and grow under the guidance of the Quality Assurance Manager.

Core Accountabilities and Key Results Area
System Mentorship: Support and coach employees to achieve improvements in food safety and quality systems.
Collaborative Auditing: Conduct weekly hygiene compliance audits not as a policeman, but as an opportunity to find and fix risks alongside area leaders.
Root Cause Partnership: Raise CARs and lead investigations that involve the production team in the solution, ensuring they own the outcome.
Operational Liaison: Act as the primary link between Quality and all site employees, translating complex standards into simple, actionable habits.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a proxy for the Quality and Food Safety Manager and liaise with external organisations on compliance matters.
Continuous Improvement:



Support the establishment and continuous improvement of best practice HACCP based systems as we build the Murray Bridge QA function.
Who We Need (Essential and Desirables)
Essential
HACCP Qualification: Formal qualification or certified training in HACCP principles is essential.
Industry Experience; Minimum 3 years in a Quality, Compliance or Food Safety role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Experience in dairy or high-care food manufacturing is highly regarded.
Problem Solving: Ability to apply root cause analysis and use numerical, data driven approaches to decision making.
Communication and Influence: Ability to influence, coach and communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation.
We Will Also Strongly Consider
Candidates with less formal experience who demonstrate genuine potential, the right attitude and a clear willingness to learn and listen from the Quality Assurance Manager and the broader Golden North team.
People who want to help build a Quality function in a new facility rather than simply maintaining existing systems.
Desirable
Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Certificate IV or Diploma in Food Science, Quality Assurance, Food Technology or related field.
Experience with SQF, BRC or other GFSI recognised standards.
Previous experience in a start-up, new facility or significant change environment.

Culture Score: A measurable reduction in blame-based interactions between Quality and Production during incident investigations.
Audit Collaboration: All hygiene audits are conducted with an area representative present to ensure immediate feedback and shared learning.
System Integrity: Zero major non-conformances, achieved through proactive, team based risk management.
Capability Building: Production team members demonstrate improved understanding and ownership of food safety standards over time.
Support to QA Manager: Effective contribution to the establishment of best-practice systems and a positive Quality culture at the Murray Bridge site.
