Full-Time Meat Manager – Freeling FoodlandLead Our Meat Department at Freeling FoodlandFreeling Foodland is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Meat Manager to lead our busy meat department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified butcher or experienced meat retail professional who is passionate about delivering quality products, exceptional customer service, and leading a successful department.
As Meat Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the department, ensuring it is well-stocked, profitable, and presented to the highest standard while leading and supporting your team.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the day-to-day operations of the meat department.
Order stock and maintain appropriate inventory levels to maximise sales and minimise waste.
Develop and maintain robust relationships with suppliers.
Oversee product quality, freshness, presentation, and merchandising.
Prepare and cut meat products to the highest standards.
Monitor department performance, gross profit, stock control, and shrinkage.
Create value-added products and seasonal displays to drive sales.
Prepare staff rosters and ensure appropriate department coverage.
Deliver outstanding customer service and provide expert product advice.
Ensure all food safety, hygiene,



and workplace health and safety standards are consistently met.
Work closely with store management to achieve sales, budget, and operational targets.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have:
Previous experience managing a retail meat department.
Qualifications as a butcher or extensive experience in retail butchery.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Experience with ordering, stock control, and inventory management.
Sound commercial awareness with an understanding of sales, margins, and waste management.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.
Flexibility to work weekends and participate in a rotating roster.
