As per the SMOEA ****, the total term of employment with SA Health will be 3 years.
Rotations following the initial 12-month Obstetrics Medicine Registrar allocation will be determined in line with your training and SA Health's requirements.
This may include transfer to other SA Health locations to perform work appropriate to classification, skills and capabilities.

About the role The Obstetric Medicine Registrar provides high-quality obstetric medicine care under specialist supervision across inpatient and outpatient settings, including after-hours.
The Registrar manages patient care, collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, and contributes to teaching, research, and person-centred care.
Key duties of the role Review and follow up of obstetric medical ward patients admitted through Outpatient Clinics.
Participate in duties associated with obstetric medical inpatients, including assessment of current admissions, care coordination, liaison with diabetes nurse educators, discharge planning, and follow up arrangements.
Assess and manage acute obstetric medical emergencies in collaboration with the obstetric staff.
Perform routine and emergency patient care procedures under supervision consistent with level of training and experience.
Ensure that patients-families are given adequate information upon which to base treatment decision and follow-up.
Skills and Experience Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with General Registration.




At least 2 years satisfactory experience as a Medical Registrar in a recognised teaching hospital.
Ability to work as an effective team member in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their relatives and other staff.
Problem solving and decision-making skills (both clinical and individual).
