Are you an experienced Freedom of Information (FOI) skilled looking to make a meaningful impact? We are partnering with a respected local government organisation seeking a Freedom of Information Specialist to manage information access requests, provide expert legislative advice, and strengthen compliant information-release practices across the organisation.
Working with a collaborative team, you'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with Victorian FOI, privacy and health records legislation while influencing best practice through training, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage
FOI and information access requests, ensuring timely and compliant outcomes.
Provide
expert advice and guidance on complex and sensitive information-release matters.
Develop
and maintain policies, procedures, templates and user guidance materials.
Collaborate
with internal and external stakeholders, including legal representatives and regulatory bodies.
Deliver
training, workshops and reporting activities that promote compliance and continuous improvement.
Must Have




Robust knowledge of FOI, privacy and health records legislation within Victoria.
Demonstrated experience processing FOI requests in a complex workplace.
Ability to interpret legislation and make sound, defensible decisions.
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills.
Nice to Have
Experience within local government or the public sector.
Exposure to OVIC reviews, complaints management or subpoena coordination.
Experience developing policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
Relevant tertiary qualification in law, information management or a related discipline.
