Alzheimer's Queensland (AQ) is a leading not‐for‐profit organisation supporting older people to live well at home. We are seeking compassionate and experienced Respite Assistants to join our team at our Gordon Park Service Centre.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will support clients in a centre-based respite setting by building genuine connections, encouraging participation and helping create meaningful, enjoyable days.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and wants to make a positive difference in the lives of older Australians and people living with dementia.
Key Responsibilities
Provide centre-based respite support to older people and people living with dementia.
Build respectful and trusting relationships with clients and their families.
Encourage participation in meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and independence.




Assist with personal care and daily living tasks as required.
Work collaboratively with the team to maintain a secure, welcoming and engaging setting.
About You
You will bring:
A genuine passion for person-centred care.
Experience supporting older people or individuals living with dementia.
A Certificate III in Aged Care, Individual Support or a similar qualification.
Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient approach.
Current First Aid and CPR certification.
A current Open Driver's Licence.
Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and diverse shifts.
Availability Requirements
Candidates
must
be flexible and available to work across weekdays and weekends, including afternoon and night shifts, for a minimum of three to four shifts per week.
Weekend-only availability will
not
be suitable for this role.
