- Develop features that support device onboarding, telemetry, notifications, remote device management, and customer-facing cloud services.
- Design and implement integrations between cloud services and IoT devices.
- Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using AWS CloudFormation.
- Participate in solution design, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
- Collaborate closely with firmware, mobile, QA,
and software engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve software and cloud service issues.

- Commercial experience developing cloud-based applications and services.
- Experience building and maintaining REST APIs and backend services.
- Experience developing cloud-native applications, distributed systems, or microservices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably AWS CloudFormation.
- Solid understanding of software design principles, testing, and maintainable code practices.
- Experience with Git-based development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented team environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
- Experience working with IoT or connected devices.
- Experience with AWS IoT Core.
- Understanding of MQTT and device-to-cloud communications.
- Experience working with telemetry, provisioning, or remote device management.
- Experience in consumer electronics, security, smart home, or related industries.
- Experience using AI-powered development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar tools.
- Exposure to AI services such as Amazon Bedrock, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic Claude, or similar platforms.
Working With Us
This role is based in our Melbourne office, with team members working from the office four days per week.
You'll collaborate regularly with colleagues in Australia and occasionally work with our UK-based development team, with some flexibility required to accommodate overlapping time zones when needed.
About You
You are a practical software developer who enjoys building scalable cloud applications and solving real-world technical challenges. You're comfortable taking ownership of your work, collaborating with others, and contributing ideas that improve both products and engineering practices.
You enjoy learning new technologies, are curious about emerging trends in cloud computing and AI and are excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of connected products.
Why Join Swann?
- Build products used by customers around the world.
- Work on real-world IoT and cloud technologies.
- Join a collaborative team where your ideas and contributions matter.
