About The Role
Are you ready for your next challenge? Then this is the role for you!
Canberra Health Services is seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our Walk-in Centre team, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care to the Canberra community. As the largest public healthcare provider in the ACT, Canberra Health Services delivers acute, sub‑acute, primary and community‑based health services across the ACT and surrounding region, with a strong commitment to excellence, innovation and patient‑focused care.
The Walk-in Centres are nurse‑led primary health services providing episodic care for minor injury and illness as part of the national Medicare Urgent Care Clinic network.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about autonomous clinical practice and evidence‑based care in a fast‑paced primary healthcare environment. Working collaboratively within a highly skilled team, you will utilise advanced clinical assessment, diagnostic and treatment skills to manage a diverse range of presentations while contributing to positive patient outcomes and service excellence.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively across the service and report directly to the Assistant Director of Nursing. Credentialing through the Canberra Health Services Nursing and Midwifery Clinical Scope of Practice and Credentialing Committee is mandatory prior to employment as a Nurse Practitioner. Successful candidates will initially be appointed on a temporary Advanced Practice Nurse (RN 3.1) contract while undertaking the Walk-in Centre competency program. Competency must be achieved within four weeks and assessed through Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs). Upon successful completion of the competency requirements and CHS credentialling process, applicants will be eligible for appointment to an RN 4.2 Nurse Practitioner position.
If you are an innovative clinician who thrives in autonomous practice, enjoys working in a collaborative team environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care, we would love to hear from you. For more information about Canberra Health Services, visit
