If you have answered yes to any of the above, then the Victoria Police Regional Academy based in Mildura could be for you.

The first intake into the Regional Academy will be in January 2027. Graduates from the Regional Academy will be deployed across the Mallee region, with potential placements in Mildura, Swan Hill, Kerang and Robinvale.

The duties of a police officer





As a general duties police officer, no two days are ever the same. General duties officers are at the forefront of Victoria Police and undertake a variety of duties on shift including:

- investigating crimes
- working with the community
- preventing anti-social behaviour
- promoting public safety
- resolving disputes
- enforcing road safety.

The possibilities of this role

- learning specialist skills in fields such as the Critical Incident Response Team, Highway Patrol or Forensics (after completing a period as a general duties officer)
- mentoring others in your team or acting as a community liaison.

About you

There is no one key attribute, skill, or experience that Victoria Police looks for in our candidates. Instead, it’s your overall suitability for the role. Here’s what we look for:

- people who are 18 years or older
- strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- healthy level of fitness
- good character and reputation
- demonstrated work experience (including volunteer work)
- Australian citizens or Australian permanent residents (New Zealand citizens must have a Special Category visa or the ability to obtain one to apply)
- an Australian or New Zealand driver licence, however,



you must transfer to a Victorian licence before commencing employment (probationary licence is acceptable).

Salary and benefits

We offer job security and a range of great perks including flexible rostering, on the job training and professional development.

- Competitive salary:
- Once you are sworn in as a constable, you will be paid a starting salary of $84,060 plus allowances per annum. In addition, there are shift penalties and overtime payments available, and as you advance in the ranks, so does your wage.

- Allowances and leave:

- Great work life balance with up to nine weeks recreation leave and 16 weeks parental leave, plus study leave, long-service leave and additional superannuation.

- Paid training:

- You are paid a salary of $61,187 per annum during your 12 weeks of training at the Victoria Police Academy.

- Career progression:

- Specialise after a period of time and receive training and support to progress through the ranks.
