About the role

Walgett Shire Council is seeking a friendly, helpful Library Assistant to work permanent full‑time (35 hours/week) at the Walgett Library. This is an ideal entry role for someone motivated to improve community access to information and education resources.



Previous library experience is useful but not essential—training provided.

Reporting to the Library Coordinator, you will:

- Update and maintain library records
- Process loans and rotate library resources
- Read to visiting students
- Update notice boards and create special displays
- Provide general information to the community

What you'll bring

- Solid interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High‑quality customer service focus
- Year 10 (or equivalent) completion
- Class C driver’s licence
- Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
