About the role
Forensic CAMHS provides a mental health service which supports young people in custody and provides a mental health consultation service toKurlana Tapa Youth Justice Centre, as well as community-based Adolescent Sexual Assault Prevention Program (ASAPP). Forensic CAMHS also provides a service to the Adelaide Youth Court to triage young people listed to appear in the Youth Court for mental health concerns. The multidisciplinary team is comprised of clinicians from a variety of disciplines (including psychiatry, nursing, social work, occupational therapy and psychology) as well as Aboriginal Social & Emotional Wellbeing Workers who bring a high level of cultural expertise to the team. The role includes some periodic after hours and Saturday work.
Key duties of the role
Allied Health Professional (AHP2)
- Working with young people (and their families) experiencing social and emotional difficulties or mental health distress, responding within the established frameworks of the clinician's scope and area of practice.
- Providing culturally informed assessments, interventions, and care plans.
- Collaboration and co work as required within CAMHS and other services in the provision of social and emotional wellbeing/mental health and community services.
- Present at and contribute to multidisciplinary team reviews.
Registered Nurse/Midwife (RN/M2C):
- Provide a high standard of advanced clinical mental health nursing practice.
- Assess, plan, implement, and coordinate care and appropriate service delivery options.
- Provide health education, physical health monitoring, therapeutic interventions, counselling, and rehabilitation programs to improve mental health outcomes.
- Participate in and oversee the provision of quality mental health nursing care in a forensic setting.
Skills and Experience
Allied Health Professional (AHP2)
- Appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or
- Appropriate Degree or specific qualification as recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia. Must hold general registration with the
