The Team

Divisional Business Enablement (DBE) provides business, financial, procurement and governance support to the Digital and Data Division (DDD) within ONI. The team enables effective management of divisional resources, budges, procurement activities and contracts, while supporting sound governance and decision-making. The DBE works closely with executives, managers and project teams to ensure digital and data initiatives are appropriately planned, funded, governed and reported. The team also supports key ONI and NIC governance forums through the provision of reporting and secretariat services. A core function of DBE is the management and oversight of divisional financial performance, procurement activities and commercial arrangements to ensure compliance with Commonwealth requirements and delivery of value for money outcomes.
The role

ONI is seeking a motivated and detail-orienated officer to join the DBE. The role provides essential financial, procurement and contract management support across the Digital and Data Division. This position is suited to an individual with a strong understanding of financial adminstation processes, budgets, government procurement, and contract management and can work collaboratively within a team to deliver outcomes. The role plays a key part in ensuring financial and procurement activities are conducted in accordance with applicable policies and frameworks, while supporting sound governance, reporting, and monitoring. You will help inform decision-making by providing timely data-led insights to enable operational efficiency across the Division and the broader agency.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintain accurate and regular Divisional financial reporting, including tracking of expenditure against approved budgets.




- Assist with monthly financial activities such as forecasting and accrual processes.
- Contribute to the development of the Divisional budget and MYEFO adjustments.
- Provide regular tailored financial advice for internal stakeholders, namely the Divisional Executive and Section Heads, to deliver timely outcomes.
- Support Assistant Director Commercial in the delivery of compliant and value-for-money procurement and contract management activities by providing administrative support, procurement advice, and coordinating procurement processes.
- Prepare and maintain procurement and contract documentation, records, reporting, and tracking tools, while assisting with procurement planning, tender activities, contract administration, and associated financial processes.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support procurement and contract outcomes, maintain effective records, identify emerging issues, and contribute to continuous improvement of procurement and commercial practices.

- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive and collaborative working relationships
- Sound organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail o Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritise competing tasks o Sound judgement and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently

Desirable but not essential:

- Formal procurement qualifications (e.g., Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting) desirable but not essential
