Our client is a well-established and highly respected South East Queensland civil contractor with more than 50 years of success delivering major infrastructure projects across the region. Their expertise spans road and bridge construction, bulk earthworks, residential subdivisions, industrial estates, pipe laying, drainage and large-scale government and private sector developments.
Due to continued growth, an opportunity has become available for an experienced MC Low Loader (Float) Driver to join their professional team based in Ipswich.
The Opportunity
This is a permanent, full-time role working Monday to Friday with early starts and finishes around 4:00 pm, allowing you to enjoy a great work-life balance while working on a variety of civil construction projects throughout South East Queensland.
Your primary responsibility will be transporting a range of civil plant and machinery safely between the depot and project sites using low loader trailers. You will also assist with loading and unloading machinery, ensuring equipment is secured correctly and transported safely, while maintaining compliance with all road transport and workplace safety requirements.
This is a hands-on role where you will work closely with site supervisors, machine operators and project teams to ensure equipment arrives on site safely and on time.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport civil plant and heavy machinery between depot and project sites.
- Operate MC trucks with low loader trailers in accordance with road transport legislation.
- Load, secure and unload civil plant and machinery.
- Complete pre-start inspections and basic vehicle maintenance checks.
- Work safely around live traffic and active construction sites.
- Maintaining compliance with state road transport legislation.
- Working closely with site personnel to coordinate equipment movements.
- Maintaining a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Minimum two years' experience operating MC trucks with low loader trailers.
- Experience transporting heavy civil plant and machinery.
- Confidence loading and unloading equipment safely.
- Experience working within civil construction environments.
- Strong understanding of working safely around live traffic.
- Good communication skills and a reliable, professional attitude.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety.
Essential Requirements
- Current MC Truck Licence
- Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
