About the Role

As Lead FX TD, you will be the engine and visionary for the FX department on your show. You’ll lead from the front, managing and mentoring your team.

What you’ll do

- Lead, mentor, and manage a talented team of FX TDs, assigning tasks, overseeing progression, and growth.
- Set the standard of excellence by creating natural and unnatural phenomena using simulations (particles, rigid‑bodies, fluids, etc.) and procedural or stochastic systems; build templates and tools that empower the team.
- Serve as the key point of contact for supervisors and production, ensuring schedules and show deadlines are met; anticipate creative and technical challenges before they become problems.
- Communicate clearly, proactively, and calmly about solutions, scheduling, and potential delays; maintain relations with other departments.
- Work with the FX HOD to ensure high‑quality work, providing feedback, quality control, and guidance on how to present work effectively in dailies.





What we’re looking for

- FX expert with 7–10 years as an FX TD, extensive Houdini knowledge, and experience producing smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, explosions, particle and voxel rendering.
- Eye for detail – good sense of timing, excellent artistic and technical skills, and deep knowledge of physical simulation techniques.
- Proven leader – experience training and mentoring, understanding different skill levels, workflows, and timelines.
- Problem‑solver – ability to anticipate and advise on creative and technical challenges.
- Solid communicator – articulate complex issues and solutions clearly.
- Collaborator – work well with all departments, set high professionalism, integrity, and positivity.

You might also have

- Strong Vex, Hscript, Python and/or Mel scripting skills.
- Knowledge in other simulation packages.
