Overview

Our Employment Registers are available for use by non-employees. Current employees should lodge their interest for additional hours or duties on the intranet Expression of Interest page. Registers provide a mechanism to recruit to casual vacancies and may also be used to fill short, fixed‑term vacancies where normal recruitment processes are not practicable. For permanent and more lengthy fixed‑term vacancies please refer to the individual advertisements on .

This Register will remain open until 30 June 2028 and will be reviewed on a regular basis. A fixed‑term and casual employment register is not a vacancy and inclusion on a register does not guarantee any offer of employment will be made.

Locations

- Royal Hobart Hospital
- Launceston General Hospital
- North West Regional Hospital (Burnie)
- Mersey Community Hospital (Latrobe)

To register interest in Community Nursing (including district hospitals and health centres) or Mental Health Nursing, please click the appropriate link. If you are seeking to return to nursing and have been approved by the NMBA for a Re‑entry to Practice program (Pathway 1 or 2), please click the link provided.

Re‑Fresher Program – Midwives

A new incentive supports experienced midwives who have had some time away but want to rejoin the profession. Midwifery Incentives can now be accessed through People and Culture. Registered midwives may access a subsidised re‑fresher program via the online Australian College of Midwives package, completing it prior to commencement and undertaking 152 hours of supported practice.

Following completion you will receive 12 months of support and assessment for change of employment status to permanent under clause 12 of Employment Direction No.1.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse or a Registered Midwife, or both.

Security Checks

- Conviction check in the following areas:
- Crimes of violence
- Sex related offences

- Crimes involving dishonesty

- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check

For some roles a current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration may be required. You will be notified if you must obtain this prior to commencing employment.
