Project Manager (ZOEPM ) Parkville, Melbourne, Australia
We have a project manager role - temporary - for 12 months. This is an on site role, required to be on site 5 days per week.
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of facilities, GMP‑compliant processes, and utilities at the Zoetis GMS manufacturing site located at 45 Poplar Road, Parkville, Australia. This role involves managing diverse stakeholders, developing, and maintaining detailed project timelines and budgets, coordinating the transfer of buildings and equipment, and overseeing EPCM/CQV activities to ensure project objectives are met. The Project Manager will also be accountable for providing regular project status updates to relevant internal and external groups.
Position Responsibilities
- Manage capital projects across lifecycle of project (planning, execution, and reporting).
- Manage the Client Project Management Delivery Team internal and external as required.
- Responsible for all aspects of project delivery including design, construction, equipment procurement, project budget and cost management, schedule management and risk management.
- Ensure project safety and environmental compliance.
- Control project scope, cost, resources, and stakeholders to meet the timeline, budget and quality requirements.
- Develop and execute project plan for successful projects, including work breakdown structure, budget, resource matrix, schedule, and risk register.
- Provide a single point of accountability to represent Zoetis GMS for project(s) delivery.
- Developing and maintaining project management documentation utilizing Zoetis systems and PM best practices.
- Promote and ensure project management standards are developed and adhered to.
- Report on the progress of projects to the local Site Steering Committee
- Technical liaison to both internal and external clients as required.
- Work with other team leaders on sharing of technical knowledge across the businesses supported by team.
- Obtain all necessary permits and regulatory approvals for site construction and commissioning.
- Select and manage key external parties for the project (including engineering consultants, equipment vendors and contractors).
- Coordinate with the Operational Readiness leader to provide a seamless delivery of the manufacturing capacity.
- Manage expectations and deliverables of all parties involved (internal and external).
- Work closely with local government and regulatory bodies to obtain all necessary permits and ensure smooth project delivery.
- Ensure smooth project closeout and turnover of the site from the Construction Manager to GMS Operations.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all turnover packages.
Organizational Relationships
- Working very closely with Manufacturing, QA, QC, Procurement, Supply Chain and Regulatory Affairs.
- Manage external relationships with current site operator.
- Expected to work with minimal supervision at this level.
- The Project Manager will interact with internal and external project team members, and with GMS Leadership; and work closely with engineering consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure smooth handover and operation of the new site.
- Manage and provide guidance to at least one direct report, ensuring effective delegation, performance management, and professional development.
- Interaction with Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and current Parkville property manager for seamless transition of site services and facilities leading to property settlement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science is required.
- Project Management Qualification is advantageous.
- 7 years of industry experience, minimum of 3 years directly applicable job experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Three or more years of experience in general and technical management of projects with demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues, addresses validation requirements, prepares, and administers budgets.
- Demonstrated expertise in areas of biological sciences including Production, Quality Control and Regulatory Compliance will be considered strongly.
- Extensive experience managing all project stages from project concept design, basis of design, detail design, construction through commissioning/qualification to final handover to end-user.
- Experience managing drug product projects including packaging, filling, lyophilization, materials management.
- Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team/matrix environment, positive interpersonal skills, communication skills, and computer skills.
Technical Skills Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in Project management including the use of Project Management tools.
- Strong proactive leadership, interpersonal, teamwork and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be decisive and able to analyze complex problems independently, deal with differences, and make appropriate decisions timely.
- Be able to develop team members, achieve and optimize team performance.
- Prior People Leadership experience is desirable.
- Working knowledge of key regulatory authorities (APVMA, TGA, EU, ACVM & Biosecurity Australia).
