North Geelong Secondary College is a single‑campus academic college for Years 7‑12, located in the northern suburbs of the City of Greater Geelong. It is a creative, caring, and diverse learning community where students grow into autonomous learners through engaging, imaginative, and intellectually rigorous programs. Students develop into mature, independent individuals who are fully prepared for lives of meaningful achievement and active participation in both local and global communities.
The current enrolment is approximately 1,000 students. The college offers the following programs:

Selection Criteria

Role
Attendance: Monday – Friday 8:30 am to 3:15 pm.
An education support class position at this range will carry out tasks in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy under supervision and direction. The role may include coordination of other education support staff within the work area or educational program.
Support activities are limited to duties that do not constitute teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Students may be supervised individually or in groups of up to four in controlled circumstances, with responsibility for the students remaining with a teacher.
Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required at this level.
Potential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing routine support for teachers, including planning of student routines.
- Supporting communication between teachers and parents.
- Communicating with teachers on routine matters related to students and other responsibilities.
- Providing basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
- Communicating with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
- Addressing immediate behavioural presentations of specific students within a classroom setting in line with school policy and procedure.
- Providing basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to four students within a classroom setting.
- Supporting teachers in coordinating educational programs independently or under minimal supervision, including rostering and organising the work of a team of aides, liaising with external support services, and assisting with communication of student outcomes.
- Providing medical intervention support to students under specific conditions, with appropriate training and guidance.
- Providing specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
- Undertaking other tasks as directed by the principal, consistent with the classification level of the position.
