Sunshine Sugar is an Australian owned and operated sugar manufacturer which is at the forefront of producing raw and refined sugar products via globally recognised and certified sustainability practises implemented throughout the entire business from the growing of sugar cane to the packing of final products.
About the Role:
Reporting directly to Sunshine Sugar’s Quality Assurance Manager the role focuses on assisting in developing, implementing and maintaining Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety programs across their Harwood Sugar Refinery operation and also at a number of other processing and warehousing sites located within and outside the region.
The Harwood Sugar Refinery is located along the Clarence River and in close proximity to the communities of Maclean and Yamba. The Refinery produces a range of bulk, semi bulk and packaged dry and liquid refined and speciality sugar products for both the domestic food and beverage manufacturing and retail sectors
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct internal food safety, quality system, security and housekeeping/GMP audits at the Harwood Sugar Refinery as well as associated processing and warehousing sites.
Conduct external food safety and quality system audits on suppliers.
Participate in certification and customer audits across all sites.
Verify operational procedures and monitoring complies with the requirements of the company’s food safety and quality system.
Manage the customer complaint system and investigate complaints in conjunction with relevant stakeholders ensuring appropriate customer response and corrective action occurs in a timely manner.
Assist resolving non-conformances associated with food safety and quality processes.
Assist with developing and implementing improvements to food safety and quality systems and processes.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Relevant qualifications associated with QA and Food Safety or related field.
Proven experience in the food manufacturing sector undertaking QA and Food Safety or similar responsibilities.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Food Safety systems, HACCP and GMP.
A solid attention to detail including the ability to conduct and/or participate in Quality and Food Safety audits.
Effective problem-solving skills including the ability to assist with investigating and resolving non-conformances, complaints and incidents.
Ability to contribute to developing and implementing improvements to Quality and Food Safety systems and processes.
Excellent communication skills including the ability effectively liaise and work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.
Well-developed computer skills including proficiency with using Microsoft Office programs.
A current Driver’s Licence is essential as the role may involve travel between sites
