Job Description
AECOM is looking for an Economist Intern to join our Advisory team. You will contribute to real projects across infrastructure, cities, energy and setting, working alongside economists, engineers and planners. We welcome applicants without prior internship experience who demonstrate strong analytical capability, clear communication and a passion for applied economic work.
How you’ll make a difference
- Support economic analysis for multi‑disciplinary projects, including cost–benefit analysis and economic impact assessments.
- Build and refine analytical models in Excel and, where relevant, R/Python/Stata; perform data cleaning and regression diagnostics.
- Prepare high‑quality written outputs (briefing notes, slide decks, report sections) for internal and client audiences.
- Visualise results using charts/dashboards (e.g., Power BI/Tableau) to communicate insights succinctly.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and designers to integrate economic reasoning into technical solutions.

Qualifications
- Summer Intern attributes: Interns who are curious and excited to apply their studies in a professional environment. You'll bring strong communication and teamwork skills, a positive and proactive attitude, adaptability, and a commitment to professionalism and integrity.
- Bachelor’s Degree: You must be in your penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Economics or a double‑major in Economics and Engineering.
- Commencement: Able to work full time hours from mid November 2026 – mid February 2027.
- Working Rights: You must have full working rights to work in Australia or New Zealand before applying.
