Unit Description
The Colorectal Unit is part of the Department of General Surgical Specialties at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, providing comprehensive surgical services in a tertiary referral setting.
About the role
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertake full‑time clinical research in colorectal surgery while enrolled as a Doctor of Medical Science student at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of A/Prof Ian Hayes and Mr Dilshan Udayasiri.
- Work as a member of the Colorectal Surgery Unit and attend two outpatient clinical sessions per week.
- Participate in the emergency on‑call roster of the Department of General Surgery, covering Acute General Surgical and Trauma, usually one night per week.
About You
- Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) or eligibility for registration (international medical graduates).
- MBBS or equivalent tertiary qualifications.
- F.R.A.C.S. or equivalent.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Well‑developed communication and presentation skills.
