The Team

The Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Team is based at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and provides specialist rehabilitation services for children and young people across Tasmania. The multidisciplinary team includes medical, nursing, allied health and administrative staff who work collaboratively to deliver coordinated, family-centred care.

The service provides inpatient, ambulatory and outpatient care, working closely with paediatric specialties, primary care providers, community services, schools and external agencies to ensure children and families receive integrated, high-quality rehabilitation support.

As part of the Tasmanian Department of Health, the team is committed to improving health outcomes through evidence-based practice, collaboration and innovation.

The Role

Join the Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service and play a key leadership role in supporting children and young people requiring rehabilitation following illness, injury, surgery, or congenital neurodevelopmental disability. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help deliver high-quality, family-centred care while contributing to service development, education, and quality improvement initiatives across Tasmania.

As the Clinical Nurse Consultant, you will provide expert nursing leadership and rehabilitation care for children and young people across the continuum of care. You will coordinate assessments and referrals, support patients and families, provide specialist advice and education to healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of clinical pathways, policies, and best-practice rehabilitation services. You will also lead quality improvement and research activities that enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.

You will need

- Strong experience in paediatric nursing and/or rehabilitation services, with the ability to support children, young people, and families with complex care needs.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to provide expert clinical advice within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, education, and stakeholder engagement skills.




- A commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and ongoing professional development.

Details of appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working up to 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately 12 months.

- notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$118,297 to $125,543 pro rata per annum + our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility

- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Current Working with Children Registration

- Postgraduate qualifications, or working towards this, in a relevant area
- Experience in paediatrics and/or relevant rehabilitation setting
- Current Driver’s Licence
