General Counsel at Iterative Health

Iterative Health is looking for a seasoned General Counsel to join our leadership team. This position will serve as a vital legal advisor to our CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors, playing a key role in shaping the company's strategic direction. The ideal candidate will have a strong business acumen and a desire to build a legal function from the ground up.

What you'll do

- Provide strategic legal guidance on corporate governance, fiduciary duties, and risk management.
- Collaborate with senior management to align legal strategies with business goals.
- Develop and implement scalable legal processes and templates to enhance operational efficiency.
- Recruit and nurture a high-performing legal team as the department expands.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel to optimize costs and maintain budgetary control.
- Work closely with Sales, Finance, and M&A; teams to facilitate contract negotiations and oversee commercial agreements.
- Handle litigation matters, including disputes and employment-related issues.
- Oversee compliance and governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Lead legal aspects of corporate transactions, including M&A; and financing activities, while safeguarding intellectual property.
- Perform additional duties as needed.

Requirements

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and active membership in a U.S. state bar.
- At least 15 years of progressive legal experience,



ideally with a blend of top-tier law firm and in-house leadership roles; prior experience as General Counsel in a fast-growing or public company is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of the healthcare sector, particularly in clinical trials and contracts with pharmaceutical and biotech firms.
- Strong financial literacy with the ability to connect financial insights to legal risks and strategic choices.
- Proven track record in executing M&A; transactions.
- Practical approach to risk management, with sound judgment and the ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex legal concepts and collaborate effectively with various departments.
- Experience in hiring and developing high-performing legal teams.
- High emotional intelligence and presence to navigate complex, high-stakes situations.

Nice to have

- Previous experience as General Counsel or Deputy General Counsel in healthcare technology, clinical research, or life sciences.
- Familiarity with clinical research regulations such as GCP, FDA, and HIPAA/HITECH.
- Experience guiding a company through an IPO or managing SEC reporting obligations.




- Background in private equity or venture-backed high-growth environments.

New York pay range $250,000 - $320,000 USD
