About the Role

Join our team as a Grade 2 Occupational Therapist in a locum position at Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH). This is a unique chance to work within one of Australia’s leading paediatric services and contribute to the care of some of our most vulnerable patients and their families.

Services are provided in inpatient settings including Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Children’s Cancer Centre, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and in ambulatory care services. As a locum OT, you will contribute to the MCH Allied Health team within a supportive, skilled and collaborative professional environment, with access to guidance and expertise as required.

As a locum paediatric OT at MCH, you will provide short term coverage during periods of vacancy, which may include part‑time or full‑time blocks of work during the working week of Monday to Friday. Your work will involve OT assessment and intervention with infants,



children and adolescents and their families within an acute hospital setting. You will collaborate closely with your multidisciplinary colleagues across the service to enquire high quality consistent and family centred care.

The weekend locum position is an autonomous role, workingindependently as the sole OT on sitefor the duration of the shift, supporting a range of clinical areas across the MCH programs. The focus includes timely responses to urgent referrals as well as safe and timely weekend discharges. The shift is typically Saturday mornings from 0830-1230. Scope to extend the shift exists if it supports timely discharge. This roleoperateson a minimum frequency of once every 4-6 weeks, with rosters released in advance to allow flexibility and choice of shifts.

About Us

Occupational Therapists at MCH play a key role in supporting infants, children, adolescents and their families across acute inpatient areas and selected ambulatory services. In this role you will provide evidence-based family centred care, conduct comprehensive assessments and work collaboratively with clinical teams and community services to ensure safe, coordinated care and discharge.

About You

You are an Occupational Therapist who thrives in a fast-paced acute setting and brings strong clinical reasoning to complex and medically fragile presentations. You’ll be confident managing a varied caseload, contributing to multidisciplinary care,



and supporting effective discharge planning across hospital and community systems (including NDIS).

With well‑developed communication skills, you’ll engage sensitively with children, adolescents and families, while also providing supervision and clinical support in line with Grade 2 expectations.

Experience, Qualification & licence requirements include:

Minimum 2 years clinicalOTexperience

Minimum 2years' experiencein an acute health care setting(preferably paediatrics)

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or Master of Occupational Therapy approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

Eligible for ordinary membership of Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

- Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia via the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
