Diploma Qualified Educator - 3 & 4 Year Old Kindergarten

Summerhill Park Kindergarten – Glen Iris VIC

We are seeking an experienced Diploma Qualified Educator for our 4-year-old and 3-year-old program, to commence as soon as practical. The successful applicant will have experience working in community-based kindergartens within a small established team. Working under the direction of the 4-year-old teacher, they will contribute to planning and delivering the educational program and support the 3-year-old teaching team on Wednesday afternoons. The 4-year-old group consists of 27 children who come twice or three times a week on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in a rotational timetable for 7.5hrs per day.

The successful applicant will have previous experience working in a sessional kindergarten and be supported by the 3yo and 4yo Teachers, Educational leader and Nominated Supervisor, working with a wonderful team who are passionate about children learning through play.

Have excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with teachers and educators, children and families, the Committee of Management and other stakeholders.

Be experienced working in a small team-teaching setting

Be highly organised, enthusiastic and have an outstanding knowledge of early childhood education.

Provide inclusive and culturally appropriate care and education for kindergarten aged children.

Contribute to the planning and implementation of the educational programme, taking written observations of the children as required.





Assist the Teacher in the delivery of the programme including preparation of activities, the general cleanliness and safety of the service, and packing away of materials and equipment.

Workdays of the role

Four days per week:

Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: 8.00am - 5pm. Total hours per day: 9hrs (7 hrs contact time and 2hrs non-contact time inclusive of a 30 min paid lunch break as per the VECTEA 2020).

Qualifications

An ACECQA approved diploma level education and care qualification

Requirements

- A current Working With Children Check
- Current mandatory training requirements including first aid, anaphylaxis management, emergency asthma management.
- Current Protecting Children - Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for the Early Childhood Sector Certificate
- Current National Child Safety Training Certificate

Industrial Agreement/Award

Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement (VECTEA) 2020.

$32.35 per hour + relevant award entitlements, Diploma Qualified Educator (Level 2) under the 10-week Sessional Kindergarten Leave Model, VECTEA 2020 (payrate correct as of July 2026).
