Senior Occupational Therapist - Paediatrics | Community | Clinical Leadership
MLEA - Brisbane QLD (Hybrid)
Full-Time | Flexible Hours | Salary: commensurate with experience
Looking for a senior paeds role where you feel valued, supported, and inspired-not burnt out?
If you're an AHPRA-registered OT with a passion for helping children thrive, and you're ready to bring your experience into a role with more clinical oversight, we'd love for you to read on. Our paeds team is growing, and we're looking for someone ready to step into a senior role - mentoring junior therapists, supervising students, and having real input into how we do things clinically - while still keeping a caseload of your own and doing the work you love.
At MLEA, we value quality over quantity. That means a manageable caseload, strong admin support, and genuine flexibility around your life - even in a senior role.
A bit about the day-to-day
- Functional assessments and intervention planning
- Sensory processing, play-based, and developmental therapy
- School readiness and fine/gross motor skills support
- Assistive technology and equipment prescription
- NDIS reports and goal setting
- Collaboration with families, schools, and support teams
- Optional: home modifications and complex needs work, if it's an area you'd like to build on
MLEA Kids is a mobile, community-based service - we don't run face-to-face therapy from an office, so your work will take you into homes, schools, and community settings. No two days look the same; some might be school or home visits, others spent writing reports from home or connecting with your team.
Alongside your caseload, you'll be someone our junior OTs can come to for guidance, supervise students on placement,
and help support newer clinicians as they settle in. You'll also be part of our Senior Team, working alongside our Practice Manager and leadership group and having a genuine voice in how paeds services are run.
How we try to support you in this
We keep caseloads realistic, because we don't think you should have to choose between doing positive work and having a life outside it. We also make sure the mentoring and supervision side of the role is properly supported - it's part of the job, not something squeezed in around the edges.
Flexibility is genuine - hybrid work and flexible hours to fit around what works for you. And as we continue to grow, there's real scope to progress into more senior or leadership positions over time.
You’ll also have:
- CPD allowance and paid CPD leave
- Time off in Lieu (TOIL) and 9-day fortnight arrangements
- Laptop, phone, and full travel reimbursement or novated lease options.
- Regular clinical supervision, plus support in your own supervisor role
- A comfortable, ergonomic workspace - sit-stand desks, anti-fatigue mats, and quiet/sensory-friendly spaces when you need to reset
- Fresh fruit and healthy snacks in the office. As well as some not so healthy ones.
What it's actually like at MLEA
From day one, you'll notice we do things a little differently here.
We genuinely prioritise well-being and professional growth, not just productivity - because we know allied health work can be emotionally and cognitively demanding, and we take care of our team the same way we ask our team to take care of clients.
That means no pressure to hit unrealistic billable targets, no overtime culture, and no feeling like you're just another name on the roster - senior or otherwise. In practice, that looks like monthly wellness days, a book club, regular social events, a Wednesday sensory hour to help everyone reset, and an EAP app with a 24/7 helpline if you ever need support. We run Christmas celebrations twice a year (July and December), regular stress-down days, and genuine recognition - including peer-nominated shoutouts and feedback loops that make sure good work doesn't go unnoticed.
You'll also get proper support day-to-day: regular supervision and check-ins, CPD allowance and paid CPD leave, and access to an employee discount platform to help stretch your pay further. It's a team that celebrates your wins, has your back through the harder days, and genuinely wants to see you thrive - both as a clinician and as a mentor to others.

What we're hoping to find in you
- AHPRA-registered OT with solid experience in paediatric community practice
- Comfortable offering guidance and mentoring to others
- Open to supervising students on placement
- Someone who wants more responsibility and is ready for the next step
