About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Plant Technician (Shift Operator - Level 1 Trainee) to join our Chlor Alkali manufacturing facility in Lytton, Queensland.
Our site manufactures Sodium Hypochlorite, Hydrochloric Acid and Caustic Soda, supplying essential products to the water treatment, swimming pool and industrial sectors.
Reporting to the Production Superintendent, this trainee position provides a structured pathway to become a fully qualified Shift Operator within approximately 18 months. Comprehensive on-the-job training and development will be provided to support your growth and success.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to establish a career in chemical manufacturing and process operations.
This role operates on a rotating 12-hour shift roster:
- 2 x Day Shifts
- 2 x Night Shifts
- 4 Days Off
Key Responsibilities
As a Plant Technician, you will:
- Operate and monitor chlor-alkali production equipment and associated systems.
- Conduct routine plant inspections and identify operational issues.
- Collect and test process samples to maintain product quality.
- Record production data and report any process deviations.
- Follow safety procedures and respond to plant alarms as required.
- Assist with plant start-ups,
shutdowns and maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with logistics, production, maintenance and engineering teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and a strong safety culture.
The Successful Candidate will have
We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, safety-conscious and enjoys being part of a close-knit team.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience in manufacturing, processing, industrial operations or a related environment (desirable but not essential)
- A genuine interest in developing a career in chemical manufacturing
- A strong commitment to safety and following procedures
- The motivation to complete both practical and theoretical training requirements
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Sound computer literacy
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
