About the Role
This is a full-time apprenticeship where you will be employed under the Joinery and Building Trades Award while completing a Certificate III in Shopfitting through TAFE.
Although your formal qualification will be in Shopfitting, the role is primarily factory based , where you will learn the skills of cabinet making and detailed joinery . Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will gain hands-on experience manufacturing high-quality custom commercial joinery, with opportunities to assist on installation projects as your skills develop.
This apprenticeship provides an excellent pathway into a career in commercial joinery, giving you practical experience in precision manufacturing, assembly and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the manufacture of custom commercial joinery and shopfitting components.
- Learn to read and interpret workshop drawings and production plans.
- Measure, cut, machine and assemble timber, laminates and sheet materials.
- Safely operate woodworking machinery, CNC equipment and hand and power tools under supervision.
- Install hardware including hinges, drawer systems, locks and accessories.
- Assist with assembly, quality control, finishing and preparation for delivery.
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workshop.
- Follow all Workplace Health and Safety procedures.
- Successfully complete all TAFE training and apprenticeship requirements.
- Work closely with qualified cabinet makers and joiners to develop your trade skills.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in cabinet making, woodworking and detailed joinery.
- Enjoys working with their hands and takes pride in producing quality work.
- Is reliable, punctual and committed to completing an apprenticeship.
- Has excellent attention to detail.
- Is willing to learn and follow instructions.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Is committed to working safely.
Desirable
- Current Driver Licence (or working towards obtaining one).
- Construction White Card (or willingness to obtain if required).
- Experience using hand or power tools is an advantage but not essential.
