Student One runs Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PSBA) in Brisbane. We don't just manage buildings, we run communities. Our residents are students building their futures, so our communities are designed around resident safety, wellbeing and their academic success. We're people-first by design, growing fast, and serious about doing things well for our residents and our crew!
The Prospect
We're on the lookout for a brilliant Residence Manager to take full ownership of one of our Brisbane building sites.
This is a genuine leadership role, not a caretaking one. You'll be the person the site runs through: setting the tone, holding the standard, and making sure every resident and staff member experiences a safe, well-managed, and high-quality environment, always.
You'll lead a team of Resident Assistants, Night Managers, and Front of House staff, manage the full resident lifecycle from intake to departure, and report into our Operations Manager as part of a growing, portfolio-wide leadership team.
If you're a natural site leader who takes ownership seriously and leads from the front, this one's for you.
What You'll Do
Own end-to-end site operations: from the resident experience and team performance to WHS, office management, and daily site standards
Manage the full resident lifecycle in StarRez: applications, contracts, rent runs, and escalations
Lead, roster, develop, and support your site team: building a high-performing, collaborative crew
Serve as the primary escalation point for all resident matters: welfare concerns, incidents, complaints,
and everything in between
Own your site's WHS obligations: safety documentation, incident management, emergency preparedness, and compliance
Contribute to site-level occupancy and financial targets, managing delegated budgets accurately
Build strong working relationships with education institution contacts, contractors, and cross-site peers
What You'll Bring
Minimum 3–5 years in an operational leadership or site management role
Proven experience managing rostering, team performance, and multi-role staff development
Solid understanding of WHS obligations in a residential or hospitality setting
Experience with property management systems (StarRez or similar) - or the aptitude to get across them fast
Warmth, composure, and genuine care for the wellbeing of students and young people
A tertiary qualification in Hospitality, Business, or a related field - or solid equivalent experience
Bonus points if you’ve got: experience in PBSA, co-living, or residential property; Employment Hero familiarity & budget and financial reporting experiencewould be pretty stellar if you've got that too!
Ultimately, you're the heartbeat of your building. You make it safe, you make it work, and you make it feel like home for students navigating some of the most formative years of their lives.
Hey, just for fun? Let us know in your cover letter what your ultimate 'pump up'song is! You know the one: it's the tune you blast to get the vibes high and bring your A game.
