Your mission
The Service Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the operational excellence and safety of our specialized vehicle-mounted equipment. By providing expert maintenance, repair, and technical support, you will directly contribute to customer satisfaction and the long-term reliability of Hiab solutions in the field.
Key responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform repair and maintenance tasks on vehicle loading cranes, hooklifts, and Moffett truck-mounted forklifts to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Service Vehicle Care: Ensure all service vehicles are well-maintained, clean, and fully stocked with necessary tools and parts
- Time Management: Ensure timely arrival to sites and completion of jobs on schedule, adhering to the Hiab standard
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain strict compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards, promptly addressing any non-compliance and reporting incidents
- Customer Interaction: Provide professional communication with customers regarding service reports and maintain a clean and tidy appearance
- Fault Diagnosis & Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and diagnose faults independently, test hydraulic and electrical circuits, and rebuild mechanical components as needed
- Environmental & Waste Management: Adhere to local environmental guidelines, ensuring proper waste disposal and cleanliness during and after service.
Performance Expectations
- Adherence to Timeframes: Ensure punctuality to site and completion of all tasks within the agreed-upon timeline
- OH&S; Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring all equipment is left in a safe,
operational state and that all relevant standards are followed
- Customer Service: Provide clear, concise, and accurate reports to customers while maintaining a qualified demeanor and presentation
- Technical Expertise: Ability to independently troubleshoot, test, and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in a similar role, particularly in mechanical handling or industrial operations
- Excellent work ethic with the ability to work unsupervised
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to fault-find and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
- Proficient in the use of computers for reporting and administrative tasks
- Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Ability to mentor and guide apprentices
- Trade Qualification in Plant Mechanic, Heavy/Light Vehicle Mechanic, or a similar field
- Positive, can-do attitude with a strong desire to complete tasks today
- Strong character and adaptability in diverse environments
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with all levels of the organization.
