Integrated Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner
Permanent / Part time 22.8 hours per week

About the position
The Integrated AOD Practitioner delivers high quality, evidence based and trauma informed AOD treatment across the Grampians and Wimmera region. The role provides assessment, brief intervention, structured counselling, harm reduction support, and coordinated referral pathways for people experiencing harms related to alcohol and other drug use.
The practitioner supports clients to reduce harm, strengthen recovery, improve wellbeing, and build safer, healthier connections. Service delivery includes intake, assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic intervention, outreach, group facilitation, and planned closure.
The position incorporates three specialist practice streams within a single integrated role:
- AOD Counselling & Treatment
- Group Work / MAC Program Facilitation
- Youth AOD Outreach
The integrated model aims to promote growth and provide variety for the practitioner whilst being flexible to adapt to changing AOD sector and client needs.
Undertaking of specialist practice roles will be determined by client demand, geographical location and skillset of practitioners. Duties will be monitored regularly and updated in consultation with program leader and manager.
Skills and experience
Qualifications
- Minimum Cert IV in AOD or related community services discipline
- AOD Core Competencies (or willingness to complete within 12 months).
Desirable
- Experience in AOD counselling, youth outreach, or group facilitation.
- Experience working with forensic clients.
- Extensive knowledge of harm minimisation principles including harm reduction.
- Therapeutic AOD practice matched to stages of change.
- Dual diagnosis capability.
