An exciting opportunity now exists for an enthusiastic, motivated and career-focused Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our highly regarded Course Maintenance Team.
Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent will assist with planning, coordinating and supervising all aspects of golf course maintenance and presentation.
The successful applicant will help lead the maintenance team, oversee daily work programs, supervise construction and improvement projects,
manage irrigation and turf health, and ensure the course is presented to the highest possible standard for members and guests.
This position provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious turf professional looking to further develop their leadership and course management skills.
Key Responsibilities
Course Maintenance & Presentation
- Assist in developing and implementing daily, weekly and seasonal maintenance programs.
- Supervise and coordinate daily work schedules to maximise efficiency and course presentation.
- Maintain exceptional playing surfaces including greens, tees, fairways, bunkers and surrounds.
- Monitor turf health and assist with disease, pest and weed management programs.
- Assist with chemical and fertilizer application programs.
- Support the continual improvement of the golf course through renovation and construction projects.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
- Assist with staff training, performance development and daily supervision.
- Help coordinate weekend rosters and daily staffing requirements.
Irrigation & Equipment
- Assist in the operation, programming and maintenance of the automated irrigation system.
- Diagnose and repair irrigation faults as required.
- Ensure machinery, tools and maintenance facilities are maintained in a clean, organised and safe condition.
- Liaise with the Equipment Manager regarding machinery servicing and repairs.
Health, Safety & Environmental Management
- Promote and enforce Workplace Health & Safety procedures.
- Assist with environmental best practices, chemical handling and compliance requirements.
- Maintain accurate records relating to applications, weather, irrigation and maintenance activities.
About You
The successful applicant will possess:
- Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (minimum).
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Turf Management (highly regarded).
- Current Chemical Accreditation.
- Current Driver's Licence.
- Demonstrated experience in golf course maintenance.
- Experience leading or supervising staff.
- Sound knowledge of irrigation systems, troubleshooting and repairs.
- Strong understanding of turfgrass management principles.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of warm and cool season turf management.
- spraying or precision application experience.
- Construction and golf course renovation experience.
- Experience operating a wide range of turf maintenance equipment.

Employment Details
- Full Time Position
- Overtime may be required during renovation periods and special events.
