We have an opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to assist in the planning and management of the natural and built environment of the Bega Valley Shire as well as to assist and advise the Planning Services Coordinator on planning objectives, policies and guidelines, having regard to community expectations and changing physical, social and economic demands.

As a Town Planner, you will process and assess Development Applications and Subdivision Certificate Applications while interpreting and applying relevant environmental planning legislation, policies and plans, including the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, Local Environmental Plans and Development Control Plans. You will prepare reports, correspondence and planning advice, consult and liaise with stakeholders, and contribute to the development and implementation of planning studies, strategies and policies that support the sustainable growth of the Bega Valley Shire.

About You

We are seeking an individual with a degree in Urban and Regional Planning (or an equivalent qualification eligible for Planning Institute of Australia membership), a minimum of five years’ experience assessing a broad range of development applications, solid development assessment expertise, and highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

You will have the following skills and experience;

- Ability to interpret and apply relevant environmental planning legislation,



including Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and its Regulation 2021; State Environmental Planning Policies; Local Environmental Plans; Development Control Plans, Contribution Plans; circulars and relevant policies.
- Experience and ability in assessing and making recommendations on a wide range of development applications.
- Proficiency in policy formulation and implementation.
- High level analytical and investigative skills including demographic, socio-economic and land use supply and demand.
- Communication skills necessary for stakeholder engagement, negotiation and mediation.

This is a permanent, full time position working 35 hours per week.

The total remuneration package for this position commences at $115,635.52 gross per annum, comprising of:

$238.26 per week superannuation (calculated at 12%)
